Martha is one of the main characters in the book. This is what I
imagined her to look like while I was writing about her. Like all the
characters in the book, she has experienced trauma in her life, but has learned
the value of love and forgiveness. She is lucky to have a wonderful
partner by her side. Paul has been with her for many years and is also her
Luminant (one who works closely with the Archimage). Martha has a very serious
vocation, that requires a lot of energy and utter dedication to the lumna. She
spends a large portion of her time fighting the umbra through the drubbing of
Quells filled with nefarious entities, that have formed on the Earthly plane.
Yet she is cheeky, always positive, always happy, and
very satisfied with her life. When I wrote about her, I imagined the
sort of person that I would want to be when I was older. Someone who has
managed to look over her past and has accepted it for what it is and has put it
behind her. Someone who takes the present moment as the foundation for her future
without the burden of the past hanging heavily on her soul. She is someone who
has long ago decided to put on her big girl panties and deal with it. She looks
forward to every day, she knows what she needs to do, she takes what comes in
her stride and she fights for what she believes in. Of course, I have loaded
her character into a totally fictional alternative reality that is filled with
abstract characters and realities. But it is her personality that I treasure as
a true reflection of what it would be like to be a balanced, kind, and loving
human being by the end of it all.
